The Medicare Product Manager is a critical role on the Medicare Product Development team and is responsible for developing the product vision and strategy Catamaran’s Medicare product offerings.  This leader plays a key role in shaping the future vision of the product portfolio and ensuring that our products & services are differentiated in the marketplace, meet customer needs, and support business/financials growth objectives.  The Product Manager will work closely with the key internal/external stakeholders throughout the product development process to ensure that business requirements are documented, communicated and meet customer needs.

The Medicare Product Manager plays is responsible for establishing the prioritization of product enhancements and innovation initiatives including evaluation of the market opportunity and trends, customer/end user needs, product requirements, and costs/resources for development.  This position will be responsible for collaborating cross-functional leaders and clients during the product development process, including idea generation, product definition, product development, market launch and post-launch product support.

This role will lead the communication and education on product capabilities to the organization including Marketing, Sales, Account Management, Operations, Implementation and clients to ensure successful product launch and to partner with Operations to maintain product integrity post-launch.  The successful incumbent will be adept at the art of client diplomacy and team relationship building.  He or she will apply strong project management and collaborative staff management skills to effectively prioritize and execute on projects and activities in a timely and reliable fashion.   

Job Requirements

  • Lead the Product Development team and key partners through key activities such as business case development, market assessment, and business analysis processes within the standard Product Development Methodology (PDM)
  • Manage communication plan to key stakeholders to ensure visibility into product capabilities, priorities, and product roadmaps/strategy
  • Partner with Program Management team and Product Analyst to assist the team to deliver on end to end product solutions and issue resolution
  • Support internal product training, product demos of the Medicare products
  • Support the definition of product success metrics and define internal and external product reporting and analytics
  • Support and document elicitation sessions using a variety of techniques (Interviewing, requirements workshops, reviewing existing documentation, Observation, brainstorming, etc.)
  • Define features and functionalities within the product release schedule
  • Maintain standard product documentation in accordance with Catamaran’s PDM process
  • Manage product prioritization for defects, enhancements and new product offerings
  • Experience utilizing product development methods
  • Ability to apply an expert understanding of business opportunities and how Catamaran’s product strategy supports corporate goals and objectives
  • Excellent analytical, quantitative, and problem solving skills with the proven ability to communicate and influence effectively at various levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated experience in documenting business requirements and analysis on large complex projects
  • Demonstrated experience in eliciting requirements using a variety of techniques
  • Demonstrated experience in facilitating business process improvements
  • Ability to manage projects by adhering to aggressive timelines and by collaborating with business partners, clients, account management and product analysts
  • Ability to effectively multi-task and work on several time-sensitive deliverables
  • Ability to work independently as well as on a team
  • Ability to interpret a variety of primary and secondary research materials to assess impacts and recognize opportunities for product roadmaps
  • Candidate will possess excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Strong decision-making, organizational, planning and problem-solving skills
